The week long event, which ran from September 5th to 11th, saw retailers, restaurants, bars and hotels from the city take part. A key date in all fashionistas and retailers’ calendars, the event shines a light on the city and it’s many offerings.

This year’s event saw Galaxy become the main sponsor and Galaxy’s style ambassador Darren Kennedy was unveiled as the face of Dublin Fashion Festival 2016.

The festival is very much about being accessible and this year over 95% of the events were open to the public – enabling city customers to experience a positive and fashionable event in the heart of the capital. There was in-store events, exhibitions, daily on-street catwalk shows and night-time runway spectaculars.

Back again this year was the Young Designer of the Year at Bank of Ireland on College Green and the Creative Quarter fashion show in Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, both well received by the growing crowds.

The Young Designer of the Year Fashion Show helps to showcase the best of Ireland’s emerging young designers, as well as established Irish designers such as Lennon Courtney by Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon, who MC’d the night. After a fantastic show the 12 finalists were whittled down to one with aspiring designer JJ Donnelly from NCAD named the 2016 Young Designer of the Year.

Despite a few down pours for some of the on-street fashion shows, the festival was a success and DublinTown would like to take the opportunity to thank all those involved. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
