DublinTown welcomes thousands of tourists to the city’s docks this August

The August Bank holiday weekend was a busy one for Dublin Port and for the DublinTown Ambassadors who welcomed almost 10,000 cruise ship passengers to the city.
On Sunday, August 5th, four cruise liners, Mirina, Pacific Princess, Silverwind and Mein Schiff 3 docked in the city.
Meanwhile, another three docked today, Wednesday, August 8th bringing thousands more tourists into the city. Today it’s passengers from the Royal Princess, Rotterdam and Viking Sky who are taking in the sights of the city. 2018 has been the busiest year so far for cruise liners docking in Dublin Port and 36 are expected this month alone. We expect over 150 ships to dock in Ireland over the course of 2018.
The ships come in all shapes and sizes but one thing they have in common is that they are greeted with a warm welcome from a DublinTown Ambassador. Our ambassadors are the only information providers allowed on cruise ships to provide visitors with maps, information and recommendations for places to shop, dine, socialise and visit during their time in the city.
Dublin works well as a cruise port destination because unlike many European capitals Dublin is close to its port and links into the city are improving.
