Important Notice Grafton Street Improvement Scheme
- Wed 31 July, 2013
Please see the below communication from Dublin City Council:
Dear Sir / Madam,
The Grafton Street Improvement Scheme is being carried out in a number of phases. Carriageway works on Phase 1 between South King Street and Chatham Street are nearing completion. It is planned to commence Phase 2 carriageway works between Nassau Street and Wicklow Street on Thursday 8th August 2013.
The section of Grafton Street between Nassau Street and Wicklow Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of Phase 2 of the works (August 2013 to October 2013). Delivery vehicles wishing to access Grafton Street will be required to use Wicklow Street, Duke Street or Anne Street South, no access will be possible from Suffolk Street / Nassau Street. Delivery vehicles will be able to exit Grafton Street via St. Stephens Green North (please see attached for drawing of Phase 2 Traffic Routes).
As a result of the works there will be about 20% less space overall on Grafton Street for delivery vehicles. Please contact your suppliers to inform them of this and to ask for their cooperation in facilitating the reduced unloading area. Delivery drivers can help by parking as close as safely possible to other vehicles and by spending as little time as possible on Grafton Street. Tradesmen and maintenance operatives working in the businesses on Grafton Street should be encouraged to park elsewhere. If there are major difficulties with these arrangements it may be necessary to enforce a 30 minute maximum loading time limit.
Businesses in the area directly affected by the works (businesses on Grafton Street from Nassau Street to Wicklow Street) will be able to receive ‘wheeled’ deliveries on the pedestrian access routes.
Please advise and make alternative arrangements with any security or cash collection companies that you deal with. Also, alternative bin and rubbish collection arrangements may be necessary and you are requested to contact your service provider in this regard.
Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained to all of Grafton Street during the works. With your cooperation we will endeavour to keep the impact of the work to a minimum.
If you have any queries, please contact us by email at graftonstreetquarter@dublincity.ie or by telephone at 222 7394.
Yours sincerely, Frank Lambe, Project Manager
