Road To The Rising Event Attracted an Additional 100,000 people to O’Connell Street
Event further highlights the potential for O’Connell Street to act as a welcoming entertainment space
The Road to the Rising event which took place yesterday proved to be an enormous success. The event highlights the ability of the O’Connell Street area to accommodate large crowds and diverse entertainment.
According to our footfall figures, the event attracted 100,000 additional people to the O’Connell Street area bringing the total footfall for the city centre up to 400,000. The majority of businesses in the area have also reported that their trade was up on the day, with a number reporting increases of over 30%.
Richard Guiney CEO of DublinTown said; “Yesterday the O’Connell Street district played host to people of all ages. We were delighted to support such a positive event for the area. It further highlights the potential for O’Connell Street to act as a welcoming entertainment space. We would like to congratulate the organisers, RTE, Dublin City Council, Ireland 2016 and An Post on such a great event and the many businesses in the area that hosted events. It is an example of how well the city can perform when all stakeholders in the city work together.”
